Mary’s Little Lambs is a licensed (#160046) family child care home. All family child care homes in the State of Maryland are required to be licensed. To meet the licensing requirements the provider must receive training in child development, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, first aid, CPR and emergency preparedness. The provider’s home must be inspected and approved by the fire department to meet fire safety standards and the MSDE Office of Child Care Licensing must inspect and approve the home to meet child safety standards. The provider and any adult living in the home must be fingerprinted for a criminal background check and have a medical evaluation. Feel secure in knowing that Mary’s Little Lambs have met all of these standards and more.
I am pleased to share with you that Mary’s Little Lambs Child Care has achieved a Maryland EXCELS check level one rating by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE). Maryland EXCELS is the state’s Quality Rating and Improvement System that awards ratings to child care and public prekindergarten programs that meet increasingly higher standards in key areas that are identified nationally as contributing to high quality.
Through a process of continuous quality improvement, Maryland EXCELS programs like ours meet rigorous quality standards over and above those required by State licensing regulations and public school requirements. The Maryland EXCELS standards include Licensing and Compliance, Staffing and Professional Development, Rating Scales and Accreditation, Developmentally Appropriate Learning and Practice and Administrative Policies and Practices.
A day at Mary’s Little Lambs Child Care includes a mix of play time, learning time, snack and meal time, and nap time all while being in a caring loving home environment. Frequent trips are taken to the MD Zoo, playgrounds, libraries and eating out for lunch. (Space and weather permitting).
